Shadow Tourism Minister Scott Bacon has welcomed today’s very positive visitor numbers published in the Tasmanian Tourism Snapshot.
Total visitors are up around 4% to 1.10 million for year ending March 2015.
Visitor expenditure increased by 12 per cent to $1.88 billion.
“This is a superb result and something the tourism and hospitality industries can be very proud of,” Mr Bacon said.
“To push through the million visitor mark and then keep going is very promising indeed.
“Keep in mind these figures don’t include the influx of people from interstate and overseas who have just enjoyed Dark Mofo.
“Labor’s proud of its record of backing Tasmanian tourism and hospitality and we’re determined to be positive from opposition.
“These results deserve to be celebrated.”
