Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has accepted assurances from the Environment Minister and Prime Minister that a tougher approach will taken to protect people from wind farm noise.
“Today is the day when I urge all Senators to pass the RET legislation and reject Labor’s amendments which would further harm our forestry industry.
Over the last 10 years the Greens & Labor party members have betrayed Tasmania’s forestry industry workers. Today I will not betray the forestry industry and their hard working families.
Today I will use my vote to protect their livelihoods and their sustainable, environmentally friendly industry. Including Biomass and wood waste in the new RET deal will mean greater efficiencies and stop waste.
The policy has been proven in the past. I urge fellow cross bench Senators not to be sucked in by the Green lies and misinformation.
The passing of this RET legislation will also mean that the jobs of 10,000 direct and indirect Tasmanian manufacturing workers are secured.” said Senator Lambie.
