PRIORITY FOR JOBS FOR LABOR MATES REVEALED IN SECRET TASMANIAN COMPLIANCE CORPORATION DEAL

At The Same Time As Minister Green Slept At The Helm On Spirit Three

The Tasmanian Greens today called on Deputy Premier Bryan Green to fully disclose the nature of the deal with the Tasmanian Compliance Corporation, reported in a national newspaper today, which he apparently signed just before the state election.

The deal apparently requires the incoming government to give three years notice of termination to the TCC, or requires compensation in the order of $2.5 million dollars to be paid from the public purse.

Greens Member for Bass and spokesperson on Builders Accreditation and Home Owners Warranty, Kim Booth MHA described the apparent deal as scandalous and called on Minister Green to fully release the nature of the deal and the reasons for it.

“Minister Green slept at the helm whilst Spirit Three sunk, whilst at the same time apparently signing off on a lucrative deal with his ex Labor mates to bind an incoming government to his ill conceived accreditation requirements,” said Mr Booth.

“The pressure is now on Bryan Green to confirm the existence of this secret deal, apparently worth $2 million and which will last for 2 years, and explain why it is needed, and come clean on the details of the deal.”

“This is a scandalous abuse of his responsibility as Minister and is an abuse of the trust placed in him by the Tasmanian public.”

“Whilst Minister Green ignored the plight of the many honest builders who were thrown onto the scrap heap by his lazy regulations, apparently he was busy ensuring the future of his Labor mates by locking in a lucrative compensation deal in the event that an incoming government scrapped his privatised system or took away the monopoly.”

Today’s Australian report state that the Tasmanian Compliance Corporation heads are Mr Glen Milliner, ex Queensland Labor Minister and previous Tasmanian State Minister, Mr John White.
