Shadow Tourism Minister Scott Bacon has welcomed a commitment of $610,000 for events in regional Tasmania.
“Events tourism is a proven winner for Tasmania’s economy and our regions deserve to benefit for increased visitor numbers,” Mr Bacon said.
“Hopefully this investment will lead to a wide range of unique events with local, national and even international appeal.
“Already we see excellent events in our regions such as the Cygnet Folk Festival, The Deloraine Craft Fair and the Forth Valley Blues Festival.
“It’s important that tourist spending is shared right throughout the state and events are an effective way of attracting visitors to towns outside our major population areas.
“Labor will back in appropriate funding for tourism and marketing in this year’s Budget.”
