The Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs Council (ATDC) has opened nominations for its annual alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) awards.
ATDC Acting CEO David Gardiner said this is a great opportunity for employees from the sector to be recognised for their achievements.
“Nominations can come from peers, managers or even members of the public who may have encountered exceptional people during treatment. Workers can nominate themselves or people can nominate a worker who they may have heard about through a close friend or family member, who has been through treatment,” he said.
“Our awards aim to recognise many of the exceptional people working to promote health and prevent harm associated with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. These awards acknowledge and celebrate the professionalism of those working in the sector and promote the sector in a positive manner to the broader community.
“In past years, the award nominations have come from peers and managers but I would also love to see members of the public nominating this year and I strongly urge anyone who has encountered a worker who has made a difference to them, to put forward a nomination.
“We want the 2015 awards to be much bigger and reach more people than in previous years.
“Bringing the alcohol and other drugs sector closer to the broader community is of high importance and the awards go one step towards achieving this.
ATDC Acting CEO David Gardiner said he is looking forward to seeing dynamic nominations from a wide range of people.
