Retail records continue to tumble with ABS figures released today showing that February was the best month ever for Tasmanian retailers, with growth of 0.4 percent for the month.
Not only that, Tasmania’s retail sector was in the top two best performing best performing in the country and February’s results were better than the national average.
While it’s clear the economy is recovering under the Hodgman Liberal Government, there is still a long way to go, which is why the Government has a long-term Plan to support economic growth and job creation.
The Government is supporting the retail sector with the Your Purchase Has Power campaign, which encourages Tasmanians to support local retailers. The campaign has had an overwhelmingly positive response and we are confident the campaign will underpin strong retail spending into the future.
With more than one percent cumulative growth in retail since December, today’s figures are also surely the last nail in the coffin of the Labor-Green-Union scaremongering that our sensible public sector reductions would somehow negatively impact the economy.
