Last night Frack Free Tas hosted a film screening of Frackman, an audience of 120 including Christine Milne packed out the State Cinema in Hobart. The screening was part of the national Frackman screenings.
The evening started with an introduction from Senator Milne and the film was followed by a Q & A with members of Frack Free Tas on the panel. Despite the recent five year moratorium on fracking in Tasmania, many locals and some who came down from the midlands asked questions concerned with how the next five years would play out and demanding more certainty that fracking can not ever be allowed to be pursued in Tas.
Frackman is an observational documentary featuring Dane Pratzky, the film follows the lives of Australian families caught up in the Queensland gas industry. The film shows a triumphant battle from ordinary Queenslanders fighting for their land against some of the most powerful companies in the world.
This powerful documentary highlights why all states need to actively fight the gas industry and why all states should aim for a permanent ban on fracking. The film promotes community action such as joining a local anti-fracking group such as Frack Free Tas,writing to local politicians, signing petitions and hosting screenings of Frackman in your local area.
