FEDERAL Lyons MP Eric Hutchinson says that new money for work on the Bass Highway is “an absolute bonus.’’
Mr Hutchinson welcomed today’s announcement of $7.68 million from the Federal Government to build new lanes between Birralee and Exton as great news.
The State Government will contribute $1.92 million for the work.
“This announcement is good news for the many tourists, local motorists and truck drivers who use the highway,’’ Mr Hutchinson said.
“This work has been needed for some time – this section of the highway is confusing for motorists when it changes from single lane to double and then back again.
“This work will help keep motorists safe on one of the state’s major highways.’’
Construction on the Bass Highway from Birralee to Exton duplication is expected to start in the next few months.
