The Liberal Government is helping to provide safe, legal events and venues for trail bike riding as an alternative to hooning in residential areas and public reserves.

Trail bike riding is becoming increasingly popular and, while we encourage Tasmanians to take part in outdoor recreation, it is important that such activities be enjoyed at appropriate venues.

Since there are very few designated areas for trail bike riding, the Liberal Government is delivering, as promised, $160,000 over four years to assist with public liability insurance and licensing fees.

This weekend’s Cambridge Moto is an example of the events and venues we are working to help.

Held at Greg Cassimaty’s track, and supported by the Tasmanian Motorcycle Council, the event offers riders of all ages the opportunity to safely and legally ride and race with others.

On behalf of the Government, I congratulate Greg for providing this great venue and the Tasmanian Motorcycle Council for its commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the safety of riders.
