Media release: Wednesday 11 February 2015
“This Pre-Election Justice Forum examines the criminal justice and prison policies of all parties prior to the 2015 State election. The Forum is essential in promoting genuine public debate around key justice issues” said CJC President the Hon John Dowd AO QC.
“Parties have responded to a Questionnaire, created with the assistance of a team of experts. This procedure was carried out at the last State Election. The Questionnaire and Forum have helped to reduce the usual law and order election auction ” said the Hon Elizabeth Evatt AC, ICJ Commissioner and former Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia.
Attorney General Brad Hazzard, Shadow Attorney-General Paul Lynch and Greens MP David Shoebridge will speak. There will be questions from media and statements from the floor. The event has been organized by the Community Justice Coalition and the International Commission of Jurists Australia. The previous party statements in 2011 are here.
Venue: University of Sydney’s Hall of Assembly at 173 Phillip Street, Sydney.
Date: 17th of February 2015 from 5pm to 7:45pm.
