Lambie receives praise and acknowledgement for using her Senate vote to protect the wage entitlements of 10,000 disabled Australians.
Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has vowed to continue to vote to protect the wage entitlements of 10,000 disabled Australians, after the important role she played in the Senate debate was revealed in an interview on ABC Radio National with Maurice Blackburn lawyer, Josh Bornstein.

“I was pleasantly surprised when a constituent brought to my attention the interview between Radio National Breakfast Host Jonathan Green – and Maurice Blackburn lawyer, Josh Bornstein,” ms Lambie said.
It was very kind of Mr Bornstein to acknowledge the important role I, and other crossbench senators played when we stopped the Liberal Government late last year, from what was effectively a dirty attempt to steal millions of dollars from ten thousand Australian workers living with disabilities.
At the time, the issue gave me a good insight into the way the Liberals, especially those in Tasmania worked, and I was disgusted. Some mainstream media with obvious political biases like to run down the role that crossbench Senators play in our parliament. But this was just another occasion, which showed the value of having a strong independent crossbench in our Senate.
The Liberal Government told many lies in order to try and justify their legislation I voted against and help defeat, but the reality was that both federal and high courts found that these disabled workers had been illegally underpaid in breach of the Disability Discrimination Act for more than a decade.” said Senator Lambie.
“This interview on Radio National also reminded me of the fact that if I’d voted according to instructions I’d received from the party I was a member of at the time – 10,000 workers would have lost their legal right to a full refund of their stolen wages. And it reaffirms my decision to resign from a political party and become an independent Senator. I will always put the underdogs and Tasmania first.” said Senator Lambie.
“My advice to the new leader of our Government is to scrap any plans the Liberal Party has to reintroduce this terrible legislation. I still stand by the words I delivered in my Senate speech on Monday 24th November 2014.
I told the parliament that …” Downlaod speech …
