Jo Ludwig
Agriculture Minister Senator Joe Ludwig will be confronted by animal advocates … and the defenceless, voiceless animals they speak for – today as he attends an ABARES Conference at the Mercure Hotel in Bathurst Street today (Wednesday, May 1st).
‘Senator Ludwig has been deaf and blind to the appalling suffering of millions upon millions of animals as he supports this morally bankrupt trade’ said one of the spokespersons, Suzanne Cass. ‘We hope our presence here, with just the animals he encourages sentencing to torturous journeys and brutal deaths, will resonate with him, as tens of thousands of protesters around the nation have been making their presence felt as well’.
The animal advocates hope to speak with Senator Ludwig about his support of the trade, claiming that he has been well and truly ‘sucked in’ by the exporters and the farming lobby, but they recognise that a vote for Labor or the coalition will equally be a vote to continue and promote the indefensible trade.
Brightside Farm Sanctuary’s Emma Haswell plans to make the animals’ presence felt, bringing with her a calf and a sheep in the hope of appealing to some shred of common decency in Mr Ludwig.
