Comment is free. Moderation is difficult

The growth and growth of Tasmanian Times has not been without its difficulties.

An inordinate proportion of time and effort – and angst – has been involved in the moderation of comments on threads.

So, in order to ensure the best use of limited time and energy – and to devote more of that time to journalism – Tasmanian Times threads will henceforth close to comments after 24 hours … except in circumstances where legitimate new factual information enriches the thread.

And, henceforth, some articles – at the editors’ discretion – will not be open to comments.
