Media release and invitation – Freycinet Action Network, 22 January 2026
A critical moment for Freycinet is approaching
Since 2017, the community of one of Tasmania’s premium tourism destinations has been working on A Better Vision for the Future of Freycinet.
Why?
Because the State Government has a plan to pave over paradise with a Bunnings style carpark, as part of their 30-year Freycinet Peninsula Master Plan to ruin this magnificent location and the visitor experience.
Instead of letting that happen, the Freycinet Action Network has invested thousands of hours and expert advice to create a vison of their own that will make the visitor experience better, not worse.
Come along to the strategy reveal, get first-hand accounts from the locals and see why our plan is better for tourism and visitors, better for the protection of Freycinet’s natural and cultural values, and better for the community who live and work in the area. Our vison also makes better economic sense and is more strategic.
This isn’t about stopping ‘progress’ – it’s about making sure the tourism experience is enhanced and sustainable and not specifically designed to ruin and destroy one of the most beautiful spots on Earth.
When the State Government refuses to listen to the locals, you know there’s a massive problem – but we have a better vision.
