Spotlight on local talent at this year’s Taste

Some of Tasmania’s best emerging entertainers will be in the spotlight at this year’s Taste of Summer.

Festival Curator, Jo Cook, said it was a great opportunity for Tasmanian entertainers to hone their skills.

“The Taste is about supporting locals, whether that’s farmers, cheesemakers, brewers or even DJs, this festival is about showcasing the best of Tasmania,” Ms Cook said.

“We’ve chosen a range of local talent that will really complement the event and create a great atmosphere for everyone to have a great time with their friends and family. We’ve got all the genres covered from funk, R’n’B, soul, indie rock, disco, jazz and more.

“On New Year’s Eve local musician, Light Zero, will be performing in the PW1 forecourt. Light Zero has a remarkable story, previously creating music while experiencing houselessness and it’s fantastic we can use our festival to help an artist like them reach a huge audience.

“Other well known acts include Ange Boxall, DJ Phemme, Emi Emi and the Tony Mak Band. Of course it wouldn’t be a party without Hugo Bladel and his roving disco and he will be back after performing overseas including at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe.”
