Hobart Assange Campaign in collaboration with Amnesty International and Senator Peter Whish-Wilson presents:

Incident in New Baghdad film + Q&A
18:00, Thursday 16 March
Moonah Arts Centre, 23-27 Albert Rd, Moonah Tasmania 7009

One of the most notorious events of the Iraq War was the slaying of two Reuters journalists, along with a group of mostly unarmed men, on the streets of Baghdad by American attack helicopters in July 2007. The incident was dubbed ‘Collateral Murder’ and exposed by WikiLeaks.

U.S. Army Specialist Ethan McCord bore witness to the devastating carnage, found and rescued the two children caught in the gunfire, and soon turned against the war that he had enthusiastically joined only months before. Filmmaker and Academy Award and Emmy nominee James Spione recounts Ethan’s powerful testimony in the provocative documentary Incident in New Baghdad.

Join James Spione, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson (*and others TBC*) for an exclusive screening of the film, followed by a question-and-answer session on how to this day the USA’s political persecution has been of WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, rather than those responsible for war crimes.

Hosts: Hobart Assange Campaign, Amnesty International, Senator Whish-Wilson.
