The new road safety advertising campaign from the Road Safety Task Force is a great initiative and has the full support of the Tasmanian Liberals. We have been concerned for some time that bad drivers do not have a fear of detection.
However, it does raise questions about the Government’s strategy on policing and road safety.
At the end of the day, the new advertising campaign will fall flat on its face if the police do not have the resources to back up the tough-talking advertisement.
We need to make sure that there will be enough police resources out on our roads to make the claims in this new ad a reality.
For too long now the Government has overlooked this vital area and it has only been following pressure from the Liberals that the Government has finally started to do something in areas such as high visibility police cars and vehicle impoundments.
