Statement by Rebecca White, Labor Leader
Today Member for Franklin David O’Byrne offered his resignation from the Parliamentary Labor Party during a Caucus meeting.
I have accepted his resignation.
Mr O’Byrne will continue to sit in the Tasmanian Parliament as the Member for Franklin.

STATEMENT FROM SENATOR ANNE URQUHART, VICE PRESIDENT TASMANIAN LABOR
The Labor Party, at its core, has always stood for the fundamental principles of fairness, dignity, and respect for everyone.
We believe in these basic tenants of civil society.
The right to a fair trial.
The presumption of innocence.
Due process.
Natural justice.
Our Party holds these values dear.
A person of the highest integrity and credentials, with no connection to the Party, Barbara Deegan, was commissioned to investigate a number of complaints.
As a Party that respects the rule of law we must respect her independent findings.
The questioning of these findings, without reason, is deeply concerning.
I respect the findings of the independent investigator
