TIM MARTAIN, Sunday Tasmanian: Bartlett’s top of class
PREMIER David Bartlett wants Tasmanian children to lead the nation in literacy and numeracy in seven years. Mr Bartlett said his target to be the best in Australia by 2016 was “firm and achievable”. He made his announcement at the Tasmanian State Schools Parents and Friends conference in Hobart yesterday. The mainstays of his plan include the existing Launch into Learning program and $32 million in Raising the Bar and Closing the Gap funding.
