Libs, Greens …
Nick McKim

The Tasmanian Greens today responded to the latest EMRS State Voting Intentions Poll which saw a statewide increase in support for the Party, by pledging to continue to put forward positive and constructive policy proposals to the Tasmanian voters.

Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said that the only poll that really matters is still a long way off, but that these latest poll results indicate that the Tasmanian people expect all political parties to work hard to earn the community’s support in the lead-up to the state election.

“The Greens will continue to work hard in the community, and we will continue to develop and roll out our constructive and positive policy initiatives which present our positive vision for Tasmania’s future,” Mr McKim said.

“The poll results are encouraging, but we will continue to work hard on issues that matter to Tasmanians such as climate change, saving forests, public housing and health care, and to restore integrity to our democratic system.”

“These poll results clearly indicate that nobody should be taking the electorate for granted and that the public expect political parties to work to earn their support by addressing the real concerns that matter to people, and the Greens pledge to meet that challenge.”

Mr McKim responded to the government’s fear campaign on hung parliaments, saying that given the rubbish dished up by a Labor government with absolute power over the last few years, many Tasmanians would welcome a power-sharing Parliament featuring political leaders working co-operatively and constructively.
