Statement – Festival of Voices, 30 June 2021

Face-masks a welcome addition to our Festival

Public Health and the Department of State Growth have completed discussions with the festival about a requirement to wear face-masks at Festival activities.

This action has been taken because of the current national level of COVID-19 risk, and the characteristics of our festival.

From tonight onwards, participants, audience and support staff and volunteers will be required to wear a mask at all festival events, except performers when actually singing.

There will be some exemptions for people unable to wear a mask for health or safety reasons, and allowance for the temporary removal of the mask for activities such as eating or drinking at events.

Persons 11 years and younger are exempted but encouraged to wear masks.

Some small events including outdoor pop-ups and small participatory workshops settings will be exempted.

Please bring you own mask if you can. The festival will supply a limited back-up supply of masks.
These new conditions are being included in an amended COVID-19 Safe Plan approval for our festival.

We would like to thank the government agencies for their support and most importantly you to incorporate this additional mitigation into the safe conduct of our events.

If you are coming to Tasmania Sings tonight, please bring your mask. We will have supplies available at the venue for you and look forward to welcoming you this evening.

We will continue to update you.

Dami Im Cancellation

We regretfully announce that Dami Im will be unable to join us tomorrow, Thursday 1 July.

Despite extensive efforts to bring her to Hobart, the border restrictions and ongoing Covid-19 situation has halted her ability to travel to Hobart in time for her performance at The Studio Theatre Royal. All ticket holders have been advised.

“I’m absolutely devastated that I’m not able to get to Tassie to be a part of Festival of Voices as I’ve been looking forward to kicking off my very first show of the Piano, Songs & Stories tour. I hope everybody stays safe and I long for the day I can come over to play for you when the situation improves.”

We send our very best wishes to Dami and her team and thank them all sincerely for their hard work.
