The Rodwell and Fazackerley Awards Dinner was held at Blundstone Arena last night, celebrating both individual and team achievements throughout what was a unique 2020/21 season for the Cricket Tasmania Premier League (CTPL).

A summary of the award winners is outlined below:

Emerson Rodwell Medallist
Men’s 1st Grade Player of the Season

Alex Doolan (South Hobart Sandy Bay) – 16 votes

Twelve years after he claimed his first Rodwell Medal in the 2007/08 season, Alex Doolan has become just the eighth player to be a multiple Rodwell medallist, polling 16 votes to claim the league’s top individual honour for the 2020/21 season.

Doolan finished the competition four votes ahead of his nearest competitor (university’s James Faulkner), and as the competition’s leading run scorer, having accumulated 793 runs from 14 innings.  He polled votes in seven matches across the course of the season for his total 16 votes, claiming top marks on three occasions, including the Round 22 match versus Glenorchy, which sealed his win.

Kim Fazackerley Medallist
Women’s 1st Grade Player of the Season

Emma Manix-Geeves (Greater Northern Raiders) – 17 votes

History has been made with Emma Manix-Geeves taking out the Kim Fazackerley Medal, becoming the first player from the Greater Northern Raiders to win either the Fazackerley or Rodwell Medal.

Despite not playing past Round 19 due to a call up for the Tigers WNCL campaign, Manix-Geeves had already done enough to secure the league’s top individual accolade with 17 votes to her name – four ahead of her nearest rival, Clarence’s Hollie Armitage.

Manix-Geeves also claimed the batting aggregate award for the season, finishing with a total 597 runs at an average of 59.70, including one century and four half-centuries.
