The Bureau of Meteorology reports that days and night where very much warmer than average across Tasmania this spring.

Average minimum temperatures were the warmest on record for spring across parts of the north-east. Seasonal rainfall was close to average for the east, below average for the west and very much below average (driest 10% of records) for parts of the south.

A dry end to spring

  • Spring rainfall was 14.2% below average for the state overall.
  • While November 2020 was the 9th-driest on record for Tasmania, some stations in the east had their wettest October on record; September totals were mostly average to below average.
  • It was Tasmania’s highest spring rainfall since 2017.
  • The state’s highest daily rainfall total this spring, 140.0 mm, was recorded at Gray (Dalmayne Rd) on 9 October when a low pressure system brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to the state’s north-east.
  • Several sites had their highest spring daily rainfall on record in early October.
