One of the most influential voices in the international debate putting the environmental issues into an economic context has been the eminent British economist, Sir Nicholas Stern. He has just written a book called A Blueprint for a Safer Planet, in which he looks at the Copenhagen global climate change summit outcomes. Kerry O’Brien spoke with him from London today (Wednesday). Nicholas Stern, first of all, what is at stake in the Copenhagen climate change summit? Because you’ve written in your book that it’s the most important international gathering since World War II. That’s a big call.
