Bob McMahon Friends of Adult Education
INFORMATION received anonymously by Friends of Adult Ed late this evening reveals that Adult Education staff have now been told to undo all the venue-related price increases they have just completed putting on the next term’s classes.

This back-flip is believed to be a result of Premier Bartlett repeatedly saying that price rises were just cost of living increases, when the Department’s own policy documents clearly stated this was not the case.

“Whilst we celebrate the victory for the Adult Education student,” said spokesperson Bob McMahon, “We remain concerned about this ‘policy on the run’ style of management.”

“This decision does not suggest good policy making, rather a government in damage control afraid to be caught out. We wait expectantly for recent changes to the concession rates and the new up-front-payment enrolment system also to be overturned.”

Friends of Adult Ed continue to lobby for Adult Ed to be removed from the Community Knowledge Network, so that it can once again operate as an independent, state-wide organisation free from the cumbersome layers of bureaucracy it now finds itself engulfed in.
