Friends of Adult Education
THE ongoing confusion and uncertainty over the future of Adult Education (which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year) has led to clamour for a public forum.
The leaders of the three political parties, a s well as Independent Legislative Coucillor, Kerry Finch, have been invited to address the forum to be held on April 16th 2009 at the Tailrace Centre, Riverside.
Greens leader Nick McKim and Kerry Finch have accepted the invitation. Will Hodgman has declined, but it appears likely that the Liberal Party will be represented.
Minister for Education, Premier David Bartlett, has declined the invitation to attend. His refusal has heightened community disaffection with his handling of the Education Portfolio and with the clandestine dismemberment of Adult Education.
Keynote speakers will be Dr Frank Madill and Peter Cundall.
FRIENDS OF ADULT EDUCATION
In response to statewide community disquiet a group of concerned individuals has organised a public forum as a result of fears that Adult Education as we all know it (and many of us love), will soon cease to exist.
The forum is:
Thursday 16 April
Tailrace Centre
Freycinet Room
Riverside, Launceston
7 – 9 pm
