Ten Days invites everyone to help celebrate the opening of this year’s Ten Days with a night of FREE entertainment on Constitution Dock.
Legendary Jamaican reggae/dub artist Horace Andy (best known for his collaborations with UK trip-hop artists Massive Attack) and Melbourne based
roots and dancehall artist Mista Savona are up first, followed by the Cuban grooves of Kenny Lopez and Cuban superstar Felix Baloy (founding member of
the renowned Buena Vista Social Club) on the outdoor stage in the Dunn Street car-park. From 7.15pm roving entertainers will entertain the crowds
at Mures car-park where there will also be food stalls.
At 9.15 Constitution Dock will be the focus, as a traditional Chinese junk, the Suzy Wong, takes to the water for Junk Theory , her sails set and filled
with moving imagery – film, photos, maps, portraits and text woven together with a soundtrack wafting from her deck.
The night isn’t over yet!! The doors of City Hall open at 9.45pm for Dance Hall; with tickets only $20, there’s no excuse not to swing in to enjoy a
drink and a full length performance from Horace Andy and Mista Savona, for a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience “one of the truly immortal
voices of reggae”.
The Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery will be open late so you can see all the shows with a performance by RUINED piano man Ross Bolleter in the café
courtyard at 7pm.
