Hag
After observing with dismay Premier Bartlett’s recent changes to the planning system the Hag predicts we should watch for Heritage to receive funding cuts at the next budget. Afterall, heritage assessments, managment plans and mitigation of adverse impacts take time. The Heritage process, like the planning system, is a legitimate process to ensure development is appropriate, of a high standard and that adverse impacts are minimised.

There is no room for this kind of process under the Bartlett Government. Major developments must be approved quickly at the whim of a minister or some ‘independent experts’ selected by the minister. Heaven forbid, if the appropriateness of major projects is actually assessed we might find they are inappropriate.
