Today’s Mercury has run a correction apparently at the insistence of Treasurer Michael Aird and or his minders. So, the $3,500 Aird was accused of spending on a meal, was not outlaid on a slap up feed enjoyed with other tax payer funded politicians after all. No, Treasurer Aird and or his staff apparently can’t find well priced airfares to get himself and his advisor to Canberra, hence the $3,500 his office outlaid on interstate air flights! Tasmanian tax payers have effectively paid the price of flying our Treasurer on a round trip to Europe and back, without the benefits. Is there something wrong in this financial management equation? Is Treasurer Aird really doing his best to reign in Tasmania’s public sector spending or is he just hamming it up on over priced interstate flights? Read more, Comment here
