Yet, Neil, the cost of gaming as a social charge is estimated by the Economist at 5 times the revenue. i.e. what we have to pay to house embezzlers in gaol, council their children as to why Mum or Dad is no longer a care giver or even present occasionally, bankrupt the embezzled and then pay off the employees who are out of a job as well as then prosecute the addicted, then we increase Centrelink payments to the dispossessed (this is Federal Money) then involve the schools in extra disruption while a child tries to deal with the repercussions of the parents loss of a job or the absence of that parent, dissolution of the marriage under financial distress, all these petty irritating costs disappear under other parts of the budget, because our past Treasurers like Crean, Aird etc tried to understand how to make sure Federal Hotels aren’t upset, whilst telling us nothing about the misery they support. Merry Christmas to Crean and Aird and to Lisa Singh and to Lyn Thorpe and to all the ALP/Liberals members that support gaming, do nothing, but claim to represent the beneficial interest of the constituents. Merry Christmas to you all, may you never suffer a bad thought. Read more, Comment here
