Tim Ellis: Mr Ellis told the committee the police and the Government were “practically inseparable” and that they were happy to pose for photo opportunities to present a united front. Jobs usually go to family, friends, political allies or failed Labor candidates. Impropriety and incompetence are rife within the public service and government ranks but not corruption.
