SFF to Rockliff - Retract Greyhound Ban or Risk Government 2

Media release – Carlo Di Falco, MP, Member for Lyons, Shooters, Fishers and Farmers, 11 August 2025

Retract the Greyhound Ban or Risk Your Government

The Shooters, Fishers & Farmers Party Tasmania stands firmly and unapologetically against the Tasmanian Liberal’s proposed ban of greyhound racing in the state.

“The Greyhound Racing industry is a proud and vital part of rural and regional Tasmania,” said Carlo Di Falco, Member for Lyons.

“It’s woven into our communities, our economy, and our way of life.”

Premier Rockliff’s decision to phase Tasmania out the industry by 2029 is nothing more than a backroom deal with animal rights extremists to cling to power, a move that strikes at the very heart of outdoor sports and the industries that sustain rural and regional Tasmania.

“This is our line in the sand,” Di Falco said.

“SFF will not support the Premier in forming government unless he announces a full reversal of this decision. No ifs, no buts.”

The SFF knows what it takes to win this fight – in 2016, we were instrumental in forcing the NSW Government to retract its own greyhound racing ban. We will bring that same determination to Tasmania, standing shoulder to shoulder with the communities that keep our regional way of life alive.

From the track to the farm gate, outdoor sports, and the jobs they create are worth defending.
