Tasmanians are being asked to march in Hobart this Sunday, 24 August 2025 as part of a Nationwide March for Palestine, joining 27 other Australian cities and towns.
The protest, organised by the Tasmanian Palestine Advocacy Network (TPAN) with support from Friends of Palestine and the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, will feature a lineup of speakers including prominent Palawa lawyer Michael Mansell and TikTok star-turned-political candidate Jordan van den Lamb (aka purplepingers).
The rally, which is scheduled to gather near the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre at 10:30 and depart for Franklin Square at 11:00, follows nearly two years of continuous protests in the Hobart CBD.
According to TPAN co-President Nadia Refaei,
the ongoing demonstrations are a response to the “worsening genocide in Gaza” and a demand for Australian sanctions against Israel and an end to the two-way arms trade.
The speaker list also includes Cody Gangell, Adel Yousif, Ayda Issa, and Kazi Sabbir.
TPAN is urging a large turnout to press for federal action.
The organisation’s rallies have already set a record for the longest continuous protest in Tasmanian history.
