A fascinating speakers programme with Alison Pouliot launching her new book Fungi Obscura and talking about the ‘Fungal Awakening’.
Alana Mann, Professor of Media and Communication at The University of Tasmania will be presenting ‘What can mushrooms teach us about communication’?
Kim Ogden from Elysian Landscape and Nature Photography will be presenting ‘Little wonders – The joy and benefits of exploring fungi with children and families’.
And our panel of Alison, Alana, Daniel (Tasmanian Geographic and Big Trees expedition) and mycologist Tim Murch (West Tamar Fungi) will be discussing ‘Do Mushrooms make your more attractive’ of course! (The real topic is the part fungi play in our world).
There is a fabulous arts & crafts corner! Kids (and kids at heart) can unleash their creativity with a range of fungi-themed activities, including painting your own timber mushrooms, decorating colourful fungi-inspired rocks, and crafting unique bookmarks & keychains. Tameika is the vibrant Arts & Crafts Coordinator at Elysian Gallery & Gifts and will be guiding children through a playful world of fungi-inspired fun.
You also have the opportunity to make your own grow kit* with mycologist Tim Murch from West Tamar Fungi.
Inside and outside the heated Tin Shed you will find exhibitors showing their art, photography, food, craft, fresh gourmet mushrooms, mushroom tinctures, salts, powders and sharing with you their knowledge and love of mushrooms.
