Growing older sometimes means letting go of the younger version of self and gaining different hopes and dreams. These are heavy concepts, but they also are about re-inventing in a positive way.

Perhaps underlying it all is the fragile partition between tragedy and comedy.

All this has been artistically canvassed in Blasko’s ‘I Just Need To Conquer This Mountain’ tour, which she is bringing to Tasmania.

The name Blasko is derived from blask, which means to shine or glow. This was a nickname for someone who gave positive energy and brought cheer to a situation.  This is particularly pertinent to three-time Aria Award winner, singer.

Musician and producer Sarah Blasko’s new album and songs, which are about painful goodbyes, in all their variations are also about new beginnings and the light they bring.

In an interesting twist to that declaration of tragedy and comedy, Blasko has composed music for Bell Shakespeare’s productions of Twelfth Night (2023) and Hamlet (2008).

Blasko says she has script ideas and is interested in expanding her art into film and theatre.

Tassie is one of Blasko’s favourite places, where she has friends and enjoys escaping, doing a drive and of course MONA is a major drawcard, as is the food.

You can see Sarah Blasko on the ‘I Just Need To Conquer This Mountain’ tour on the following dates:
