Tasmania SES members return from deployment to Far North Queensland flood emergency

The 21 Tasmania SES members deployed to Townsville to provide support to the ongoing Far North Queensland flood emergency return home today after a challenging but successful deployment.

SES Acting Assistant Director Operations and Resources, Cheryl Ames, said that the Tasmanian task force completed over half of the jobs in the Townsville local government area during the deployment period.

“Tasmanians can be very proud of the achievements of our SES members who have reinforced the highly valued reputation of Tasmania SES answering the call to support communities around the country whenever we are requested to do so.”

“I also acknowledge the families and employers of the members deployed to Queensland with relatively short notice. The continued support of family members and employers is such an important aspect of making deployments of this nature possible.”

Tasmania SES have also continued to provide non-firefighting resources to support the ongoing firefighting activities of Tasmania Fire Service in the past week.
