LOCK IN HAWKS DEAL BEFORE OTHER STATES SWOOP

Bass independent MP Rebekah Pentland is urging the State Government to lock in a new deal with the Hawthorn Football Club.

“The clock is ticking,” Mrs Pentland said.

“We know Cairns wants to expand its own deal with the Hawks and the Queensland government is prepared to spend money to make it happen.

“An ongoing partnership with Hawthorn is critical for the economy of northern Tasmania. It would be a disaster if the Hawks left Launceston.

“While next year’s fixtures, including the Friday night clash with the Giants, will be brilliant – there are no guarantees beyond 2025.

“The departure of North Melbourne shows how competitive the race to secure AFL content is.

“If we don’t lock in a deal soon, other cities will swoop.

“York Park is the best boutique ground in Australia, it would be embarrassing if it was left without premium football content.

“The Premier knows exactly how passionate I am about this topic. I’ve raised it with him multiple times.

“I know the Government has a lot on its plate at the moment, but it can’t afford to drop the ball.”

NORTHERN INDEPENDENT LEADS BY EXAMPLE ON POPULATION GROWTH

Independent Bass MP Rebekah Pentland has announced a modest but bold policy when it comes to growing Tasmania’s population.

“I’m proud to show leadership on this issue,” Mrs Pentland said.

“While my policy will only increase the state’s population by 0.0001%, it’s a step in the right direction.

“I would like to thank my husband Alex for his support in formulating this important policy for Tasmania’s future. I couldn’t have done it without him

“It will add to our suite of other established policies in this space.

“While I’m proud to say this policy is mine, I am hoping to receive support from across the parliament when it comes to fruition in April next year.

“I’m determined to not miss a beat when it comes to representing the people of Bass so my colleagues in parliament should prepare to see a lot of my new policy once it arrives.

“I hope to set a positive example for other working women who announce bold policies. We shouldn’t be forced to compromise.”

Baby Pentland due April 2025.
