Tasmanian Llyr Otto has won third prize in a national competition for fledgling businesses.
Based in the geographic centre of Tasmania, Otto – one of four residents of Waddamana – transformed her passion for cooking and hospitality into Earthly Delights Coffee. Alongside running a small accommodation business, she operates a coffee van to provide locals and visitors with refreshments in this remote area.
The competition supports budding entrepreneurs to turn their passions into thriving businesses by providing them with essential resources, mentorship, and financial backing.
Otto wanted to address the lack of nearby food and drink options in the central highlands, making her business a valuable community resource. With plans to expand her facilities and enhance her branding, she aims to establish Earthly Delights Coffee as a staple in the community.
As the third-place winner of the ‘Hobby to Hustle’ competition, Otto was awarded $3,000 in VistaPrint credit, $3,000 in logo design services from 99designs, and a mentoring session with former COSBOA CEO and SMB advocate Alexi Boyd.
