Tasmanian Hospitality Association throws support behind “The Walk”

The Tasmanian Hospitality Association is fully behind and supportive of the Hon Peter Gutwein’s upcoming ‘The Walk’ from Burnie to Glenorchy.

The THA has a positive relationship with Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania and stands alongside Mr Gutwein in raising more awareness around inclusivity.

“Our hospitality industry proudly promotes inclusion and diversity, with people from all walks of life and backgrounds employed in a variety of roles throughout the state,” THA chief executive Steve Old said.

“It is this diversity which makes our sector so great, but we know we must continue to educate and raise awareness to ensure everybody is treated equally, fairly and respectfully.

“We have worked closely with MRC Tasmania in recent years to support the migrant community, as we understand they can face barriers when integrating into new environments.

“I congratulate Peter on his week-long walk from the north west coast to Glenorchy next month and hope the public comes out in support and helps to raise much needed funds. The THA will provide whatever support we can to Peter by assisting with some of the costs incurred, and we encourage our industry to support him and this initiative in any way they can.”

The THA’s commitment to providing safe working environments is highlighted by the recent launching of a dedicated bias and inclusion training program for industry. More information on this can be found at everyopportunity.com.au.
