167 nominations received for the 2024 State Election
When nominations closed at 12 noon today, 167 candidates had been nominated to contest the 2024 House of Assembly elections.
This compares with 105 candidates in 2021 and represents the largest field of candidates for election to the House of Assembly since its establishment in 1856.
In each division, the number of candidates is as follows:
Bass: 32 candidates
Braddon: 33 candidates
Clark: 35 candidates
Franklin: 31 candidates
Lyons: 36 candidates
The names of candidates nominated will be announced at the following locations, after 12 noon tomorrow, Friday 1 March:
Bass and Braddon – Election office, 12 Goodman Court, Invermay
Clark and Franklin – TEC office, Level 3, 169 Main Road, Moonah
Lyons – Election office, Unit 1/6 Cessna Way, Cambridge
As soon as practicable after the announcement of candidates, the returning officer for each division will conduct draws to determine the order of party/group columns across the ballot paper and the order of the first rotation of names within each column.
The media and the public are welcome to attend.
The names of candidates will be published on the TEC website at 12:05 pm in a designated order. This page will be updated later in the afternoon to reflect the correct ballot paper order for each division.
