If the Liberals haven’t fixed it in 10 years, they never will
If the Liberals haven’t fixed it in 10 years, they never will.
A new advertising campaign highlights how the Liberals have botched the state’s energy policy, ruined health care and left thousands of Tasmanians without a home.
On three occasions, Premier Jeremy Rockliff repeatedly refused to cap power prices despite promising Tasmanians the exact thing at the last election.
Now, Tasmanians are left paying mainland prices for local power in a cost of living crisis.
The Liberal Government’s has dragged its feet on housing investment and Tasmania is now the least affordable state to rent or buy a home.
It means that more than 4500 Tasmanians still do not have a roof over their head – roughly four times longer than 10 years ago.
And instead of trying to fix health, they’ve cut $145 million from the budget.
We’ve now got more than 58,000 people waiting for outpatient appointments, ambulances ramped and the worst bed block in the country.
If the Liberals haven’t fixed it in 10 years, they never will. The damage is done.
It’s time for the Liberals to go, Tasmanians can’t afford to have them in office for 14 years.
Rockliff running Gutwein’s ‘Terry’ Brooks strategy
Three times Jeremy Rockliff was asked whether Jane Howlett was being investigated by the Integrity Commission yesterday. Three times he refused to answer.
Mr Rockliff’s bizarre response was reminiscent of the 2021 Adam ‘Terry’ Brooks saga.
In 2021, the Liberals ridiculed journalists who asked questions about whether Mr Brooks had been using a fake name and identification to deceive women. It was later uncovered he had also been charged with firearms offences, including possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of explosives, and dealing with identity documents.
Jeremy Rockliff is showing he is no better than Peter Gutwein. The same refusal to answer questions, be honest and own up.
Tasmanians want to know if the people they will vote for have integrity. That they are honest. Jeremy Rockiff is refusing to be honest and it is obvious he is hiding something.
Tasmanians have the right to know if one of the Liberal candidates is under investigation by the Integrity Commission.
This has now become a question of Mr Rockliff’s integrity and judgement. The only way he can clear it up is by coming clean and answering the very simple question: is Jane Howlett being investigated by the Integrity Commission?
If he won’t answer the Premier should state whether or not he will personally guarantee Tasmanians that Ms Howlett’s integrity is beyond reproach?
