Police from Western District’s Taskforce Scelus have arrested 82 people and laid 188 charges since the operation commenced in late November.
While the taskforce has had a major focus on illicit drug use and firearms, members have also been targeting crime more broadly in the Western District including traffic operations.
The results –
188 charges
44 properties and vehicles searched
$5000 stolen property recovered
87 cannabis plants seized
42 traffic infringements
28 drug drivers
9 vehicles seized
3 firearms seized
6 liquor infringements
Small quantities of ice and cannabis seized
Detective Inspector Michelle Elmer said the taskforce had seized both highly addictive drugs and dangerous weapons that had the potential to cause significant harm in the community.
“We live in a very safe community, however there is a small number of people who continue to do the wrong thing, and these results should serve as a warning to those people – we will find you,” she said.
