The Tas Bike Collective Cycle Challenge – Tassie’s premier family friendly cycle relay

The Tasmanian Bike Collective is proudly launching a new event! The Tas Bike Collective Cycle Challenge, this new event is aimed at giving people who might be new to cycling events the chance to have a go, take on a challenge, have fun and raise money for a great cause!

The event format is simply to do as many laps as you can as a solo rider, in pairs or as a team over a 3-hour time frame and having fun while you do it. Participants are supported and encouraged to share their challenge activities and help raise funds for the Tasmanian Bike Collective.

Other events will be happening during the day including the Fairbrother kids challenge on a separate course, novelty events, an exhibition crit race, retro pushbike show and shine, bike shop industry stalls and more.

The cycling industry is getting behind the event with lots of spot prizes up for grabs and the event team are excited to be launching this new event which encourages people to sign up for a fun day with their bike, friends and family.

The Bike Collective has on staff Duncan Giblin, an experienced event manager who is combing his cycling industry and community work backgrounds.

“One of the things I love about cycling events is the sense of community and fun that people getting together on bikes bring. I’ve also always thought there was space for a real family friendly and entry level event with the focus being personal challenge and enjoyment and less so on competition. The Tas Bike Collective Cycle Challenge brings these things together and helps introduce people to events in a fun and affordable way.”

Event/Organisation mission

“The fundraising driver behind the event is to help build the financial sustainability of the Tasmanian Bike Collective. As the costs of delivering services rise, we want to ensure we can continue to run our 3 programs in Risdon Vale, Clarendon Vale and Huonville working with over 75 kids every week. Our programs are aimed at young people who may be struggling with becoming work ready in conventional learning environments.  We use bikes as a practical learning medium to help young people develop their interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The program supports engagement in education, work readiness and helps young people thrive socially.

“Our view is that no student should be left behind because of academic or personal struggles, life or economic circumstances. We work constructively with schools to help fill some of these learning gaps. We see great results every week but need to keep the programs going and be able to offer these opportunities to even more students.”  Ant Edler TasBC CEO
