Media release – Master Builders Tasmania, 4 December 2023
Skills agreement the next step in creating High Vis Army
Master Builders Tasmania is working hard to make sure we have the building and construction workforce needed to build Tasmania’s future.
Master Builders Tasmania CEO, Matt Pollock, said today marked another milestone with industry and the Tasmanian Government signing a skills compact.
“Today, industry and Government have signed a compact that further strengthens our collective commitment to building a High Vis Army,” Mr Pollock said.
“It’s appropriate the compact was signed at the construction site of Master Builders’ new state of the art training facility in Cambridge, which will be open to Tasmanians early next year.
“Combined with the investment into the new Water and Trades Centre at TasTAFE, the Master Builders’ facility will ensure the next generation of Tassie tradies have access to world class training in world class facilities.
“We are working with Government to achieve our target of growing the construction workforce by 25 per cent by 2025. Doing so is a crucial step in ensuring we can deliver the pipeline of major infrastructure and more than 30,000 new homes needed to keep pace with demand, growing our economy and ensure we maintain the living standards that all Tasmanians have become accustomed.
