Announcement – Reindear Productions, 5 December 2023

Outdoor Theatre – The Comedy of Errors

The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare is being performed outdoors this December. Rehearsals are well-underway and our local cast are eager to share the show with audiences.

Reindear Productions is a recently formed theatre company based in Devonport. Their founder, Adam Dear, began the company to facilitate creative expression and provide more paid opportunities for Tasmanian artists.

This play will be Reindear Productions’ first play as a company, with each member of the cast and crew being paid for their time, effort and talent.

“We exist to create opportunities for Tasmanian actors, writers, and directors to express themselves, build community, and showcase their work. Furthermore, as much as possible, we aim to ensure artists are paid for their work,” said director Adam Dear.

Dear is an Australian theatre-maker who began his artistic journey as an actor, working in film, television and theatre. After completing his Master’s Degree in Theatre Directing in London, Adam moved to Devonport to be closer to family. Now, with over 25 years in the industry, he focuses on directing, writing and teaching, consistently creating innovative work and preparing performers for the next phase of their careers.

“With its witty dialogue, slapstick humour, and a plot full of mistaken identities, The Comedy of Errors is not to be missed. All the action takes place in one city over the course of 24 hours, observing Antipholus and Dromio of Syracuse searching for their long-lost brothers in Ephesus while regularly mistaken for their twins. This light-hearted production will be set in the 1990s. So, get ready for fanny packs, excess hair gel and double denim.”
