Greens launch candidate for Legislative Council Seat of Hobart

It gives me great pleasure today to formally announce Cassy O’Connor as our candidate for the Legislative Council division of Hobart.
Cassy has been preselected by Greens’ members to represent us in the campaign for our first ever upper house seat.
We can win this seat and we’ll be working hard on the ground to make history in Hobart next May.
Cassy has a long, strong track record of community service, as the Greens’ Member for Denison/Clark for 15 years, a Greens’ Minister in the Labor/Green Government and Greens’ Leader.
I sat next to Cassy in Parliament for eight years. I know she is a person of courage and integrity. Cassy has the big green heart, experience and track record to be an outstanding MLC representing the people of Hobart. She would be a strong, honest voice for nipaluna/Hobart and its people, putting them first every time.
We’re all looking forward to a positive, highly engaging campaign to win this seat for the Greens.

I’m very honoured to have been preselected by Greens’ members to run for Hobart, the city and community I love.
As a Green, I understand a vibrant, prosperous nipaluna/Hobart means investing in our hospitals, schools and affordable homes over stadiums. It means looking after the place we love and call home. We stand with and for a wild, protected kunanyi. We’ll always prioritise vibrant, diverse and safe communities, and work hard to ensure the vulnerable and disadvantaged aren’t left behind.
We also understand the times we live in require strong, honest leadership in community, business and public life. The challenges we face demand courage and integrity from all elected representatives, and for them to uphold the public interest every time.
We need to elect people we can trust.
I’ve got more to contribute to my community and this great city so I’m going to give this campaign to make history in Hobart everything I’ve got as part of a terrific Greens’ team.
I’m super excited about the next six months on the campaign trail.
