Queenstown wins ‘Top Small Town’ in Canberra!

Destination West Coast, a local business group based in the west, is thrilled to announce that Queenstown has won the Small Town category in this year’s Australian Top Tourism Town competition.

The national win is the second award in as many years for the committee, who partnered with West Coast Council to produce the 2023 entry, as well as 2022’s Strahan entry, which won its category at a state and national level.

“Last year’s win was exceptionally valuable for Strahan and resulted in quite a lot of subsequent media coverage, so the value of this award for Queenstown is not lost on us, ” says Jo-Ann Kerr, President of Destination West Coast, “But what we’re most proud of is the collaboration across so many businesses that it takes to create one of these entries and do the town justice.”

Committee representatives from World Heritage Cruises, West Coast Wilderness Railway and NRMA partnered with the local council to generate the entry, which was awarded at Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday 14 September, 2023.

Representatives from Stanley and Devonport were also at the event after winning gold in their state categories earlier this year.
