THE LARAPUNA COMMUNITY WEEKEND 2023

Get ready to grab your walking shoes and make a positive impact at the larapuna Community Weekend 2023. Wildcare Friends of larapuna Coast, together with long-time supporter Tasmanian Walking Company and our many other event partners, are thrilled to invite you to this four-day event happening in August along the stunning larapuna / Bay of Fires coastline.

We’re calling all nature enthusiasts and passionate volunteers to join us for an unforgettable adventure. We’ll be walking the beautiful beaches between Stumpys Bay in wukalina / Mt William National Park. Together, we’ll tackle the pesky ‘sea spurge’ beach weed and clean up the marine litter and debris that’s cramping our coastal style.

larapuna Community Weekend 2023 is a chance to soak in the remote beauty of the larapuna coastal landscape, swap stories with fellow beach enthusiasts, learn from the experts and make a real difference in preserving the area.

We’ve got five walks to choose from over four epic days. Hop aboard our free bus from St Helens (except Friday 18) and join us on the following adventures:

  1. Policeman’s Point, Saturday 5: A 13 km beach walk from Policeman’s Point to The Gardens.
  1. Deep Creek, Friday 18: Hike the remote 12 km of coast between Stumpys Bay and Deep Creek.
  1. Eddystone Point, Saturday 19:  Choose between a 6 km walk from Deep Creek or a 9 km walk from Ansons Bay, leading you to Eddystone Point. Discover the natural and cultural heritage of this special place and stay for a free evening BBQ at the Aboriginal Land Council Tasmania’s pama house.
  1. Abbotsbury Beach, Sunday 20: A 7 km beach walk on Abbotsbury Beach, right across from Ansons Bay.
