Introducing Very Short Film Festival’s Mentoring Program
We have some fab news to share with you today… The Very Short Film Festival is thrilled to announce the launch of its Mentoring Program, aimed at nurturing the talent of emerging Tasmanian filmmakers. It’s time to shine a spotlight on our vibrant community and empower the next generation of filmmakers in the Australian film industry! This initiative is supported by Screen Tasmania, funded through their Industry Development Program and by Artology, our team behind VSFF.
So, what does this Mentoring Program entail? We’ve paired five promising filmmakers with esteemed industry mentors for a six-month journey. During this period, our mentees—Alison Stanton-Cook, Bree Sanders, Caitlin Berwick, Conor Castles Lynch, and Ursula Woods—will receive invaluable support, engage in collaborative idea generation, gain industry insights, and overcome creative and professional obstacles. Our goal is to inspire a new generation of bold and visionary filmmakers within the Australian film industry.
We’re over the moon to have such an incredible lineup of VSFF mentors, ready to share their wisdom and expertise. Please join us in welcoming Ben Latham-Jones, an international producer; David Balfour, a film industry professional and educator; Marta Dusseldorp, renowned Australian actor and producer; Martin McGrath, award-winning cinematographer; and Rocco Fazzari, a talented artist and animator.
We strongly believe that bespoke mentoring models can have a profound impact on artists’ development, going beyond traditional training programs. By investing in their artistic journeys, we hope to cultivate a vibrant and innovative film community.
