Wilderness Society Tasmania Announces New Convenor
The Wilderness Society Tasmania is pleased to announce that its Management Committee has appointed Tabatha Badger as its new Convenor. The position is equivalent to the Chair of the Board.
“We are delighted to announce Tabatha Badger as our new Convenor,” said Tom Allen, campaign manager with the Wilderness Society Tasmania.
“Tabatha is one of lutruwita’s / Tasmania’s leading conservationists and her stewardship of the campaign to restore Lake Pedder is impressive.
“The Wilderness Society Tasmania will benefit from her campaign experience, her excellent relationships across the conservation community and Tabatha’s engaging professionalism,” said Mr Allen.
Tabatha said “It’s an honour to be stepping into the Convenor role, particularly at this critical for the environment.
“Lutruwita / Tasmania has a significant global role to play in safeguarding biodiversity and the climate through the urgent protection of the Spero-Wanderer wilderness region, the island’s magnificent forests, the Kooparoona Niara National Park and justice for the palawa people, as well as halting gas exploration in Bass Strait and, keeping our national parks free from privatisation, and repairing past environmental mistakes beginning with the restoration of Lake Pedder.
“I’m excited to be upscaling our conservation efforts and community collaboration alongside the Wilderness Society Tasmania’s accomplished committee and dedicated campaign team,” said Ms Badger.
